You may use a pipe cleaner or wire to tie the dollar bills together for the twist tie.
Difficulty Level: Easy
The first thing to do is to fold the dollar bill into 1/4 sections each. To fold them equally, fold them in half and then fold it in half again. Crease the dollar bill then unfold.
Second, make another four crease marks on the dollar bill. Use the illustration as a guide. The dollar bill should now be divided into 1/8 sections once folded.
Fold and unfold the dollar bill again to make 8 more crease marks. Use the illustration as a guide.
The dollar bill should now be divided into 1/16 sections once folded. Flip it over to the other side.
Make 16 more crease marks on this side. The dollar bill should now be divided into 1/32 sections.
Because of the crease marks made on both sides, it will form a zigzag line when viewed from the side. Compress the dollar bill as illustrated above.
It should now look like this! Set it aside for now and then grab a new piece of a dollar bill.
Start with a crisp dollar bill, bring the bottom right and left corner to the top edge of the dollar bill.
Make three crease marks on the dollar bill. The crease marks should divide the dollar bill into 1/4 sections. Flip the dollar bill after creasing it.
Next, make four more crease marks on this side of the dollar bill. The crease marks should now divide the dollar bill into 1/8 sections.
Repeat step 6 on this dollar bill. Compress the dollar bill as illustrated above. this will be the top wing of the origami buttterfly.
Bring back the first dollar bill and place it below the second one.
Lastly, tie them together making sure both ends of the twist tie are on the top. This will be the antenna of the butterfly. Slightly spread open the wings.
Your dollar bill origami butterfly is done! You may curl both ends of the twist tie to make the antenna of the butterfly nicer.
