Fold the table napkin into a square
To make a diamond envelope, lay a square napkin on a flat surface. The table napkin can be cloth or paper.
Fold the napkin crosswise in half by bringing the top edge to the bottom edge.
Now fold it lengthwise in half to form a smaller square. After folding it into a smaller square, proceed to the next set of steps!
Make the layered design of the diamond napkin fold.
Orientate the square napkin into a diamond. Make sure the open corner is at the top.
Fold a part of the topmost flap of the top side to the bottom. Leave a margin at the bottom like the sample image above.
Repeat the previous step on the second and third flap at the top. Make sure to leave a margin when folding the flaps at the bottom as well. This will create the design and pocket of the diamond envelope napkin.
Tuck the sides of the diamond envelope to the back
We're not done yet! Flip the napkin to the other side.
Fold a part of the right side to the middle.
Do the same on the left side as well. This will secure the cutlery pocket made in the front.
Flip it over and the diamond envelope napkin is done! You may now put some silverware or the menu inside the napkin pocket.
Extra Tips
- Besides cutleries and menu cards, you can put all sorts of trinkets inside the diamond envelope. A great idea is putting small trinkets as souvenirs. It could be candies, gift cards, coupons and a lot more (as long as it can fit inside the pocket). This would be an awesome idea for weddings and parties!
