There are various ways to make an origami flower. One of them is this simple version of a paper flower. This is a great version because the steps are easy to fold and you only need a piece of paper to make this beautiful paper flower.
It can be done rather quickly too and the process isn’t that long so you can get yourself familiarized after a few successful attempts. A good idea is to create a few of these flowers with different colored papers.
Once finished, it can serve as a great decoration anywhere or a fantastic gift to someone special. Now let’s get folding.
Collapse the Paper
Use a square piece of origami paper to make this origami flower. It is better to use paper that have different sides. That way, following the instructions will be a lot easier. The first step is to make a square base. To do this base fold, you must fold the paper diagonally to the left and the right. Then, crease the paper well and unfold.
The second step is to make crease marks horizontally and vertically. Mountain fold the paper crosswise and lengthwise in half. Crease the paper well and unfold.
Collapse the paper along the crease marks made.
Hold the top right corner and the bottom left corner. Bring these two corners together.
Flatten it to form a square. This is the square base. Now rotate it into a diamond like the image on the next step.
Shape the Paper Into a Triangle
Diagonally fold along the dashed lines of the top layer triangle to the center. Crease the origami paper well and unfold.
Lift the right corner flap to the middle. Make sure to lift the top outer flap ONLY.
After lifting the flap, squash it down to flatten.
The origami paper should now look like this. Repeat previous three steps on the other side.
Like flipping a page from a book, turn the front flap of the right side to the left side. Do the same at the back.
Bring the top corner upwards along the dashed lines. Fold the top layer ONLY
Repeat previous step at the back side.
Rotate the origami paper 180 degrees counterclockwise.
Expand to Make the Origami Flower
Fold along the dashed lines to make two creases through all layers.
Pinch the narrow end to make the edges meet behind the model. See the next step for more info.
The model will now look like this when at side view. Pull the outermost petals toward each other until they meet.
Lastly, make each petal of the flower softer by holding the ends and slightly bending it downwards. The origami flower should now look like the right image.

- Try to make a few of these origamis to master it. Also, you can use pieces of paper that have different colors.
- Take your time and be patient. Follow the steps closely but don't forget to have fun.
- Fold straight and apply enough pressure. If you make mistakes and need another piece of paper, get another piece of paper. It simply won't look good if there are unnecessary crease lines.
