Introduction:
Create a paper plate angel that you can be used as a display anywhere in the house! If you’re looking for a fun activity that kids can do easily, then this 3D angel craft project might be the one you’re looking for. It may look hard to mold a paper plane into an angel, but it is simple once you make the necessary cuts on a paper plate. Just follow the instructions below and gather the craft materials needed to make this beautiful craft.
Tools
- Pipe Cleaner
- Coloring Materials (Markers, paint, stickers, sequins, etc)
- Scissors
- Ruler
Supplies
- Paper Plate
- Tape
- Glue
- Googly Eyes
Prep the paper plate
To mold the paper plate into an angel, we need to make some cuts on the plate. First, draw a small circle on the center of the paper plate.
Keep in mind that the circle will be the head of the paper plate angel. It’s up to you how big or small the head you want your angel to be.
Draw a straight vertical line on the top part of the paper plate. Follow along the dotted line as illustrated in the image above.
You may use a ruler to draw a straight line.
Draw two horizontal straight lines as illustrated in the picture above.
The guide marks drawn should look like this.
Cut along the guide marks made (follow the dashed line illustrated above). Do not cut the bottom part of the circle. The uncut portion of the circle will be the neck area.
Make the head of the paper plate angel.
Stick some googly eyes (or draw some eyes) on the circle area below the vertical cut mark.
Draw mouth, hair, and some blush on the head of the angel.
Lift the circle cutout at a right angle.
Mold the body of the paper plate angel.
Slide over the right flap to the left flap while shaping the front side into a cone.
Once molded, it should look like this. The horizontal cut marks made before should secure the wings together and the cone shape. Now trim the wings to make it a bit smaller.
The base of the angel is now done! You can stick some tape on the back of the wings to secure it better.
Attach a halo on the paper plate angel
Fold a pipe cleaner in half.
Insert it at the hole at the back of the paper plate.
Secure the pipe cleaner by taping it at the inside of the cone.
Mold the pipe cleaner into a halo.
Decorate the angel
Draw some feather patterns on the wings.
You may also paint it if you want the wings to be a different color or put some glitters on it to make it sparkly.
Decorate the dress of the angel however you like. For this project, we embellished the dress with sequins to make her sparkle. You may draw some designs, stick some stickers, paint a different color for the dress or keep it as is.
The paper plate angel is finished!
If you want to hang it, attach a string on the halo.
